Apple updates iLife : Movies, Photos, and Backyard Bands

By Surajkumar Harikumar on Tuesday 22nd of Oct 2013

Live from Apple’s San Francisco event, they have just announced an update to the iLife series of Apps for iOS and OSX. These apps include iMovie, iPhoto and Garageband.

This is the first time we are seeing seamless integration from mobile to desktop, and that seems to be one of the key selling points here, with all apps looking as stunning on iOS and on a Mac. iPhoto looks near-identical on all devices, and is nearly as fast thanks to the 64-bit chip on iPhone 5S. iMovie receives an update which about completely changes casual movie creation and editing, leaning towards simplistic design and transferability from iOS to Macs. It also features an  iMovie theater, a collection of trending trailers from your own iCloud.

iLife is free for all iOS devices

Garageband also has a complete revamp, featuring great iOS 7 supprort, with loads of new tracks. Although it sports a near similar design, it comes with more functionality like advanced filters on the Macs. A really neat feature is the ability to start a garage rock tune ( not restricted to rock ) on the iOS 7 device, and resume on the Mac. It also features a virtual drummer ‘Kyle’ who creates the virtual drum track. Drum tracks are recorded by some of the greatest session players, and the ‘Kyle’ persona can be changed to match the beat style ( ‘Gavin’ for example ), more of which can be purchased.

iLife is free for all iOS devices, and updates roll out today. It looks like Apple is focusing a lot on polished updates, and creating seamless laptop-mobile integration, and is turning heads doing it.
