By Surajkumar Harikumar on Sunday 20th of Oct 2013

Karbonn seems to be on a roll with its budget range releases. After the 4 phones under 8K release, it has also pushed out the Karbonn A12+ and the A18+ recently. A more complete look at the specifications is given below.

What’s unique- The Karbonn A12+ packs a 4-inch WVGA display, with an 480×854 px resolution, while the A18+ has a 5-inch WVGA display with a 480×854 px resolution. The A12+ comes with a 1400 mAh battery, while the A18+ packs a much larger 2000 mAh battery, and promises upto 12 hours of 2G talk time

What’s similar – Both phones are powered by Dual-core processors, clocked in at 1.3 GHz. They come with 512 MB of RAM, and 4 GB of internal storage, expandable to 32 GB by microSD. Both pack 5 MP rear-shooters and front-facing cameras. Both phones run Android 4.2, and are dual-SIM, 3G, WiFi, Bluetooth and GPS compatible.

Both phones can be bought at the big Indian online retailer Flipkart. The A12+ is priced around INR 5,290 while the A18+ is priced at around INR 8290. The key differentiator is the 5inch screen, and while the A12+ looks similar to the A99, the A18+ is quie different from its recently released 5-inch counterpart, the A35. Aiming to create a market overflowing with variety is an interesting move by the Indian smartphone maker, and it will be interesting to see how this strategy works for them.
