Samsung just doesn’t stop and take a breath. Fresh news has arrived hinting at a possible Galaxy S2 Plus and Galaxy S3 Mini for later this year 2012.
Samsung Galaxy S2 Plus
Rumor has it, Samsung is planning an enhanced version of the Galaxy S2, called the Galaxy S2 Plus. You can read it’s specifications below. However, on reading them one thing will definitely strike your mind. Why? A smartphone so close to the Galaxy S3, it almost shares identical specifications. And the price difference according to rumors will also not be that great. Anyways, let’s have a look a the rumored specifications.
Samsung Galaxy S2 Plus Specifications:
- 1.5 GHz Dual-Core CPU
- 1 GB RAM
- 4.5″ AMOLED display
- 8 MP camera
- 16 GB internal storage
Not much is known about the device, but this alone gives us a pretty good outline and impression of how the device is shaping up to be. The phone will definitely be a worthy successor to the Galaxy S2. The indicated price range is $300-$450 which we see as very reasonable for a phone of this calibre (or atleast shaping up to be). Our only hope is that it doesn’t have a horrible battery life that Galaxy S2 does. Rest assured, this will be great mid to high-end smartphone that probably will be liked by many thanks to it’s high-end features yet lower price tag. The handset may come with Android ICS or Jelly Bean pre-installed.
Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini
Another phone that Samsung is working on is the Galaxy S3 Mini (yes, the Galaxy S3 is so huge that it gets honored with a mini version). Unfortunately, this mini version will also minimize on the specifications on the phone. Understandable, as long as the phone itself remains a decent offering and is priced right.
Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini Specifications:
- Dual-Core Processor
- 4″ WVGA(800×480) SuperAMOLED
- 5 MP camera
- Android 4.0 ICS
At the moment nothing else is known about this device. Expect more details to be unveiled in the coming weeks. This device looks all prepped to go to battle with the iPhone 4S (but at a third of the price). It is interesting to note that the S3 branded phone will be placed lower than the S2 Plus (1 generation old brand). This might confuse many non tech-savvy buyers who might end up purchasing a Galaxy S3 Mini thinking it to be better than the S2 Plus thanks to the S3 and S2 naming disparity. The Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini is rumored to go on sale in the $200-$250 price bracket. If that is true, we see an excellent mid-range device in the making. The handset may come with Android ICS or Jelly Bean pre-installed.
