Sony Announces Xperia E1 And Xperia T2 Ultra Android Smartphones

Sony has announced two new Android smartphones. The first is Sony Xperia E1 which is an entry-level Android smartphone while Sony Xperia T2 Ultra is a mid-range Android phablet which looks identical to Xperia Z Ultra. Let us have a detailed look at both of them.

Sony Xperia E1 and Xperia E1 Dual are exactly similar except that the Xperia E1 Dual consists of dual SIM card slots as the name suggests. Sony is  targeting young music lovers with these entry-level Android smartphones. It comes with Android v4.3 Jelly Bean, 4 inch WVGA screen and 3.15MP camera. There’s no front-facing camera and primary camera lacks both autofocus and LED flash. According to Sony, the Xperia E1 is equipped with Sony’s best audio technology. The phones loudspeaker has such as high volume output (100 db) that even the noise of a motorcycle passing by cannot interrupt your music. The phone also has a dedicated WALKMAN button to launch the music application along with the ‘shake to shuffle’ feature. The phone comes with dual-SIM option which is a definite advantage emerging markets such as some African and Asian countries. This phone will be priced below INR 10,000 in India and will compete with Samsung Galaxy S Duos 2 and LG L5 II Dual. Its predecessor, the Xperia E and Xperia E Dual were quite a success for Sony last year.

  • Available in Black, White and Purple Colours.

Sony Xperia T2 Ultra & Xperia T2 Ultra Dual

There is a huge market for entry-level and mid-range priced phablets in India. Sony is looking to capture that market with Xperia T2 Ultra & Xperia T2 Ultra Dual. Xperia T2 Ultra Dual is a dual SIM version of Xperia T2 Ultra and will be released in emerging markets like India and China where there’s a lot of demand for dual SIM smartphones. It has a large 6 inch HD screen with IPS Triluminuous panel which is also used in the upcoming Xperia Z1 Compact and the initial reviews of the experts have been phenomenal. It has the same 13MP Exmor RS camera sensor which was used in the Xperia Z along with full HD video recording and a 1.1 HD front-facing camera. It is powered by a 1.4 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor which also powers the famous Motorola Moto G. According to the specifications, it should cost higher than the Xperia C, which also comes with a dual SIM card slot and a quad-core processor. So we can expect the price to be anywhere between INR 25,000 to INR 30,000. It will compete with Samsung Galaxy Mega and the upcoming Nokia Lumia 1320 in that price range when it launches officially in India.

  • Android v4.3 Jelly Bean, Sony Xperia UI, Themes, Mini Apps
  • GSM Dual-SIM (Xperia T2 Ultra Dual only), 42Mbps HSPA+, dual-band Wi-Fi b/g/n, Wi-Fi Direct, DLNA, and Bluetooth v4.0.
  • 3000 mAh Li-Ion Battery, Battery STAMINA mode.
  • Available in Black, White and Purple Colours.
