A refreshed iPad along with iPad mini, new iMacs and MacBook at Apple’s event on 23rd
When you have an Apple event just three days ahead, you can’t expect those spies or the ‘insiders’ to sit calm. However hard the company may try, it just cannot stop the hysteria that automatically builds around its events. The leaked news this time is that along with the much talked about iPad mini, there will be a tweaked iPad (full size) coming up as well. Then there may be releases of Mac minis, new iMacs and a 13-inch version of the MacBook Pro with Retina Display.
Lightning to iPad
The new iPad was the third generation tablet from Apple and was launched in March this year. The highlight of the show was the stunning Retina Display that packed a staggering 3.1 million pixels onto the 9.7-inch screen. The launch also saw coming of 4G LTE to the iPad. This time around, we don’t expect substantial changes to the device as this one is going to be just a refresh rather than a complete revamp. The site 9to5Mac reports that the newer version of iPad will get the smaller Lightning connector that debuted last month with iPhone 5 and new generations of the iPod families. This will complete the round of updating all Apple iOS devices with the new dock connector that is slimmer, lighter and can be used with any side facing up.
Global LTE in same price
The next big change can be global LTE support for iPad, something that also came along with iPhone 5. This will make the tablet more useful for people who travel incessantly around the world. As far as the price is concerned, Apple would like to retain the earlier prices for both Wi-Fi and 4G LTE models across the world. So, the newer iPad (we choose to call it that for now) may be priced at $499 for 16GB ($629 with 4G), $599 for 32GB ($729 with 4G) and $699 for 64GB ($829 with 4G) models (prices belong to US). We hope a similar price stagnation in India too. This may also mean that there will not be any memory upgrade in these versions.
Small tweaks will also be given to the Mac Minis, iMacs (desktops from Apple) and the 13-inch variant of the hugely successful MacBook Pro. The latter is expected to get the same stunning Retina Display which its 15-inch sibling got early this year. Stay tuned to Gadgetronica as we bring you more hot and fresh news related to Apple’s bash on October 23rd.
