Chinese handset maker Gionee has yet another addition to the budget smartphone series today, as it released the Gionee GPad G3 in India. The slightly lower spec successor to the GPad G2 was spotted online at Snapdeal at INR 9,699.
While we’ve already seen plenty of rumors and an official press image from Gionee, the release gives us a concrete look at its specifications. The slightly-small-phablet will carry a 5.5-inch FWVGA screen, with an 854×480 px resolution display. The phablet will be powered by a quad-core MediaTek MT6589 processor with PowerVR SGX544 GPU, clocked in at 1.2 GHz. The device will have 1 GB of RAM, and 4 GB of internal storage, expandable to 32 GB by microSD card.
On the camera front, the device packs a 5 MP rear shooter with LED flash, and a 0.3 MP VGA front-camera. The phablet comes with Android 4.2.1 Jelly Bean, and a 2250 mAh battery. As for design, the device comes in at a cool 9.6mm thickness, rounded design, and a rear speaker. The phone comes with dual-SIM, 3G, WiFi, Bluetooth 4.0, and FM Radio support.
This phablet will succeed the better-spec Gionee GPad2, currently up at around INR 12,000. The Gionee GPad 3 is up for sale at Snapdeal for INR 9,699. With this latest addition, Gionee joins the race to conquer the budget phone market, and it will be interesting to see how this compares with other devices priced similarly. We will bring more information at it surfaces.
