Google event on Oct 29th, Nexus 10, Nexus 4 and Android 4.2 to be unveiled

Google all set to release two new Nexus devices and a refreshed Android 4.2. Are you game?

So after a relatively tranquil period, get ready for some high drama and real action, for the three giants are ready with their arsenals brimming with never-seen-before weapons. Call this World War III and we won’t mind. Apple, Google and Microsoft have chosen the last week of the month to showcase their beautiful weaponry that’s set to bring commotion in the Gadgets community. We’ve seen what Apple and Microsoft has to offer, now it’s time to see what Google is going to spill over in its event on October 29th in New York City.

The whistleblower this time around is the site TheNextWeb that claims to have “all the details” of the Google event. According to the site, the menu includes a new 10-inch tablet with Samsung, another Nexus phone – the LG Nexus 4, and an update to the Jelly Bean – Android 4.2.

Samsung Nexus 10 tablet

Google has been reportedly working with Samsung for a 10-inch Nexus tablet that will compete with the current ruler – the iPad. The biggest feature of the device to have leaked at the time of publishing is the screen size and resolution. Packing a staggering 300 pixels per inch (PPI) compared to the new iPad’s 264 PPI, the resolution of the 10-inch screen will stand at 2560×1600 pixel (16:10). This will bestow a gorgeous display to the rumoured tablet, or the Nexus 10 as everyone is expecting it to be called. This device is internally being called “Manta” for no clear reasons and will be loaded with the new Android 4.2. It’ll be a fitting battle between the refreshed iPad and this mysterious tablet.

LG Nexus 4 phone

TheNextWeb has also confirmed the news of a new Nexus smartphone manufactured by LG, and it will be called LG Nexus 4. Probably that ‘4’ has come from the quad-core 1.5 GHz Qualcomm APQ8064 Snapdragon processor which will be powering the phone. Almost every specification that we reported six days back has been confirmed. The LG Nexus 4 will sport a 4.7-inch 1280 x 768 pixel display, 2GB RAM, 16GB storage, an 8-MP rear-facing camera (and 1.3-MP front-facing snapper) along with a beasty 2100mAh battery. Enough substance for another class-leading smartphone in the market.

Android 4.2 a.k.a nothing

Yeah, that’s what we have heard. Still unconfirmed, the news is that the update will retain the Jelly Bean brand as opposed to a speculative Key Lime Pie. Reports point that Google will introduce a ‘Content in the center’ concept  which will allow users to access Play Store content from a widget. The OS will also bring ‘Tablet Sharing’ which will provide a simple and easy switch between several users on a tablet, each with their own email and apps. In a face-to-face with iOS 6, or iPhone 5 in particular, Android 4.2 will have panoramic camera settings updated to support both horizontal and vertical movement by default. Google’s event tagline “The Playground is open” seems to suggest some tweaks with Google Play Store, like the new Nexus devices being available there for purchase. It may also mean a more free and flexible environment for app developers. October 29th shall tell us the truth.

So that’s all we know about the Google event. Stay tuned to Gadgetronica as we bring you more fresh juice from the Gadget Grapevine!
