Google Nexus 7 rumoured to launch in India in November
It seems not long ago that Google made their first foray into the world of tablets by announcing the Nexus 7 at the Google I/O 2012 in partnership with Asus, who is their hardware partner for the Nexus 7. At an event held at Bangalore, where Asus released the PadFone and Transformer Pad, it also delved into further details about the Google Nexus 7 tablet, available only in US and certain other markets as of now. The tablet will finally be launched in India in November according to Google’s hardware partner Asus.
The Nexus 7 sports a 7-inch (1280×800 resolution) HD display, back-lit IPS display, scratch-resistant Corning glass, 1.2MP front-facing camera, 8 or 16 GB internal storage and 1GB of RAM. The battery is 4325mAh with 9 hours of HD video playback or 10 hours of web browsing or 10 hours of e-reading or 300 hours of standby. The CPU is a powerful Quad-core Tegra 3 processor. Connectivity options include WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth and Micro USB. The OS is obviously the latest Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean), its Google’s tablet after all. Other features include built-in microphone, NFC (Android Beam), Accelerometer, GPS, Magnetometer and Gyroscope.
No price details have been announced as yet, but media reports have been speculating the price to be around Rs. 11,000 with a confirmation coming somewhere in October. Considering that the tablet goes for an unbelievable $199 in the states, it’s a given that this would be priced accordingly in the sub-continent too. A 3G supporting Nexus 7 tablet is also expected to be announced in US somewhere around mid October.
