HCL launches Android ICS based tablets ME U2, ME V1 and ME Y3

HCL has launched two tablets for less than Rs.10,000 – ME U2, ME V1 for Rs.5999 and Rs.7999 respectively and an ME Y3 tablet priced at Rs.11999. All the three tablets run on Android ICS platform and include a single-core processor.

HCL ME U2 and specifications:

It is an entry level tablet with pretty common specs like 7-inch WVGA (800 x 480 pixels) display, 1 GHz Cortex A9 processor, 0.3 MP front camera, WiFi. The features which separate this tablet from many sub 6k tablets are that it supports Full HD video playback and includes 1 GB of RAM . This tablet also supports mini HDMI port for connecting it to a TV and a microSD slot for expanding the memory upto 32GB.

HCL-ME-U2

Quick specs:

  • Android 4.0 (ICS), 1 GHz Cortex A9 processor, Mali 400 GPU
  • 7-inch capacitive touchscreen, 800 x 480 pixels resolution

HCL ME V1 and specifications:

Me V1 is a 2G voice-calling tablet with features almost similar to the previous tablet like a 7-inch WVGA display, Full HD video playback and a 1 GB RAM. In addition to the 0.3 MP front camera, ME V1 also features a 2 MP rear camera with LED flash and supports 1 GHz Cortex A8 CPU, GC430 GPU. Connectivity features of this tablet include 2G, 3G (via USB dongle), WiFi, Bluetooth 3.0, mini HDMI.

Coming to the high priced tablet, even this tablet is Android 4.0 ICS based 3G compatible and is powered by 1 GHz Cortex A9 processor and a 1 GB DDR3 RAM. It includes a 7-inch WSVGA (1024 x 600 pixels) display, 3.2 MP rear camera and a VGA front camera. Other features of this tablet include WiFi, Bluetooth 4.0, mini HDMI and Full HD video playback.
