Karbonn is on a releasing spree (similar to Micromax and Spice, but they are all competing against each other). Karbonn recently (and very quietly) updated their old Karbonn A7 to the new Karbonn A7+. The difference was minor, but with it Karbonn started updating/refreshing and launching new devices. Karbonn launched their new Karbonn A11 smartphone. We were hoping for a dual-core but that didn’t happen.

Well, the wait is over. Karbonn has finally launched it’s first dual-core Android smartphone, not one but two. While the first (the Karbonn A9+ dual-sim dual-core 4″ Android 4.0 smartphone) was covered earlier today, it’s time for it’s elder sibling to receive some limelight. So what are we waiting for? Delve right in!

Karbonn A21 Full Specifications

The Karbonn A21 packs the same configuration as the Karbonn A9+, albeit some changes (or upgrades rather). The chipset remains the same, a 1.2 GHz dual core processor. We still have no clue of the RAM although we are strongly leaning towards 1 GB (here’s hoping). Android 4.0 ICS is on-board, so is the 5 MP HD rear camera capable of shooting 720p videos. The same 1.3 MP front camera brings you higher quality video calling than competition at the same price.

The phone supports 3G + 2G (dual sim GSM + GSM) active standby. Perhaps the best feature of this phone would be the 4.5″ large display. Although resolution is limited to WVGA (800×480), the 4.5″ display will simply be a joy to use. It’s far better than the 5″ WVGA display phablets, and bigger than the average 4″ smartphones. Makes perfect sense for a flagship (or will it be the Karbonn A24?)

4 GB of internal memory is plenty for apps and games, and it can be expanded by a 32 GB memory card. Thankfully the phone has a higher rated battery, of 1800 mAh which should give plenty of battery backup (although it’s still less for a 4.5″ display). The phone will come in Pearl White color.

The Karbonn A21′s price is currently a mystery. We have absolutely no clue as to what price range the phone will launch at. Although we have a hunch, and that is Rs. 12,000. We believe it will fit right in with the competition.
