Micromax A110 Canvas 2 to savour Jelly Bean update next week

Micromax A110 Canvas 2 Jelly Bean

Tech2.in is reporting that Micromax A110 Canvas 2 is all set to get the Jelly Bean update next week. Delayed updates have been one of Android’s biggest drawbacks, unless you are part of Google’s Nexus program. In most of the cases, the OEMs are to be blamed, and Micromax in India has always been a perfect example of such behaviour.

There’s even a joke about it: “Micromax doesn’t release updates, it releases a new phone.”

But all that is going to change now. They’ve received official word from Micromax that an Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update for the A110 Canvas 2 is on its way and will be available to users soon.

“Yes, the Canvas 2 is getting a Jelly Bean update and it will hit the market by late next week,” Andre Augustine, part of the company’s media & corporate communication team for India & SAARC Region, told tech2.

The A116 Canvas HD is also in the running to get the Android 4.2 Jelly Bean update, but no particular date or timeline as to when it would be out.

The update will not be delivered by the traditional over-the-air method; users will have to go to Micromax-authorised service centres to get the update. They’re testing the Jelly Bean ROM on the Canvas 2 as of now and it would be released by “early next week latest.”

Taking your phone to the service centre may not be the most desired method to update your device,  but users can rest assured that the update will be handled by trained servicemen. Micromax has a handy service centre locator tool on their website to help the users locate their point-of-interest if they’re ready for the update. The process should not take more than a couple of hours, it all depends on the service centre and the waiting queue at the time.
