After Yahoo, this time Microsoft has decided to sit with the design board. The company has given a completely new look to its search platform, Bing. The new platform comes with a fresh look and feel and integrates all your searches at one place. So you can use Bing’s ‘Smart Search’ to see all the search results from your PC, tablet, cloud, apps and the web in one place. Here is what it has to offer.
First of all, the new logo looks more aligned with the corporate identity of Microsoft. From the search perspective, Bing’s new voice search makes it more natural and interactive. Newly added Bing apps make the search experience easier on your Windows PC, tablet and phone. Hence, looking for a food joint, gym or shopping center is much more fun now. From design perspective, the new preview windows will direct the searcher to the most relevant part of the web portal.
There is an option for social search which will collate data from your Facebook, Twitter and other accounts and show in a single side bar. So, you do not have to toggle between various pages to find out what’s going on around you. Yet another add-on ‘Pole Position’ can assess your questions about the local weather and return the most relevant results.
With all these changes Microsoft can easily accommodate new search platform into their new products like Xbox consoles and Windows Phones. If they can successfully do this, Bing can be an independent default search platform rather than being a mere search tool as of now. The company is also considering making Bing an open platform for app developers.
Once this is done, we can see a flurry of new search apps which will make the searches closely replicating the human behavior and Microsoft will be in a better position to compete with the big boy of search- Google.
