Amazon is all set to take the stage with 3 new tablet releases this holiday season. We’ve already covered the higher-end Kindle Fire HD 2 series, but the Kindle Fire is also getting a refresh this time around. The Kindle Fire is currently at $159, which is just marginally higher than their e-Ink reader variants, and packs solid hardware for a device of its price. Now, Images and specifications of the Next-gen Kindle Fire have surfaced online.
Recognized device image leaker evleaks has posted the following image of the Kindle Fire on Twitter, and we presume it is the upcoming Kindle Fire. We can see from the image that the bezel is quite thick, possibly as much as the earlier Fire. The Amazon over Android UI skin got a revamp, by shrinking their trademark carousel of documents, and giving space to the favorite app icons at the bottom, in landscape mode too.
The device will to come with the dual-core Texas Instruments OMAP4470 processor, clocked in at 1.5 GHz, sporting a PowerVR SGX544 GPU, 1 GB of RAM, and a 7-inch 1920×1080 display. The device’s official release date is yet unknown, though we can expect a September / October release. Going by history, the device is likely to target the budget price range, leaving the higher-end to the Fire HD 2 7 and 8.9 inch tablets. We will bring more information as it surfaces. Until then, Don’t Panic
