Nokia’s 808 PureView and Lumia 920 assemble to capture “The Road to Hell”

Nokia PureView Phase 1 and 2 - 808 and Lumia 920

If camera smartphones were to start a superhero team, the Lumia 920 and 808 PureView would definitely be part of it. And what do you expect when the Phase 1 and Phase2 of PureView is assembled to capture an intimate rock gig? A great footage of two-camera video edit with pretty good quality, that’s what. The song covered here is a Chris Rea classic: The Road to Hell. The video was shot (and the audio recorded too) by the Nokia 808 PureView and the close-up shots were filled in with footage captured with the Nokia Lumia 920. The splicing is done artfully, be sure to go past the initial 30 second dance floor footage to enjoy the video.

An extremely important point to note is that the venue was extremely dark, presenting a significant challenge to the people filming it on their phones. Camera phones usually give up on their users in very low light conditions. But with proper handling, the 808 PureView and Lumia 920 have carved out a real place as the phones of choice for taking to gigs. The Lumia 920 in particular, with High Amplitude Audio Capture, plus image stabilisation, does great justice to the video if you can get yourself close to the action.
