Qualcomm reveals new Snapdragons, promises upto 75% increase in performance

Qualcomm has discarded it’s Snapdragon S4 mobile processor series in favor of  new processors lined up for a 2013 release. Say hello to the Snapdragon 800, Snapdragon 600, Snapdragon 400 and Snapdragon 200 processors. The Snapdragon 800 and 600 are high end processors that will take number crunching and multitasking to a new high. The Snapdragon 600 picks up where the almighty Snapdragon S4 Pro left off, and that’s not even the best processor in the lot. Qualcomm promises a 40% increase in performance with the 600 series over the previous quad-core Krait processors.

The Snapdragon 800 is on an entirely different plane when it comes to performance. It features the new Krait 400 CPU cores each clocked at a whopping 2.3 GHz coupled with the Adreno 330 GPU, a faster LTE Cat 4 modem, faster 802.11ac Wi-Fi, QFHD video recording, support for resolutions up to 2560 x 2048 and components optimized for low power consumption. Again, Qualcomm promises an unbelievable 75% increase in performance over the previous generation of processors.

There are brand new devices coming next year and Qualcomm has already secured deals with many manufacturers for their new processors. There are more than 50 devices reported to be using the Snapdragon 600 and 800 processors in 2013. The Snapdragon 600 devices should hit the shelves in early 2013 with the Snapdragon 800 devices following later in the year.
