DA F60 – Samsung’s miniature NFC enabled Bluetooth speaker

Samsung DA F60 – A portable speaker with Bluetooth and NFC

Samsung DA F60Samsung Electronics in their press release announced the release of portable Bluetooth speakers (Model : DA F60) in a lineup comprising of other audio accessories. The standout feature is its Near Field Communication (NFC) capabilities. Remember that Nokia advertisement showing the world how you can connect phones by just tapping them? Well that’s NFC. It’s an hazzle free way to connect two NFC supported devices by a simple wave or a tap and is much less cumbersome compared to Bluetooth or WiFi. The only downside is that it’s got a very puny range (a few centimeters) hence the name NFC.

Another notable inclusion is the AptX Codec. For starters, AptX is a sound compression algorithm with lesser loss and enhanced quality. It also boots the range of the speaker at the higher end. All that’s needed is a phone/tablet that also supports AptX. Samsung in its attempt to conceive a  portable speaker hasn’t compromised on the quality though. This pocket sized speaker can reproduce audio at high volumes with minimal distortion.

The icing on the cake is the Samsung SoundShare support. Samsung SoundShare is an easy access suite to connect your speaker to your Samsung television via Bluetooth. To add to that, it barely weighs 1.5 kg. Exact specifications are not out yet. This is expected to hit the shelves in the second quarter of 2013.
