Indian smartphone maker Lava is pulling out all the stops to gain market dominance at all price ranges. We’ve seen the Xolo Q1000S which was made to compete with the likes of the Canvas 4. Lava is also interested in capturing the budget-end of the spectrum, as seen by its 2 latest releases, the Lava Iris 505 and the Iris 506Q appearing on online retailer Snapdeal‘s website. These 2 devices are appear to be the budget successors to the Lava 504Q.
The Lava Iris 505 comes with a 5-inch WVGA display and a 854×480 px resolution. The phone will be powered by a 1.2 GHz dual-core processor with 512 MB of RAM, and 4 GB of internal storage ( 2.25 GB available to the user ) , expandable by microSD Card to 32 GB.
The Iris 506Q on the other hand, has a 5-inch qHD display with a 960×540 px resolution. This will be powered by a quad-core processor, clocked in at the same 1.2 GHz, with the same 512 MB of RAM, 4 GB of internal storage ( 2.25 GB available to the user ) , and microSD expandable.
Both phones come with a 5 MP rear shooter with LED Flash, capable of shooting 720p videos, and a 0.2 MP VGA front-camera, with panorama, continuous shots and face-detection. Both will be powered by Android 4.2, and a 2000 mAh battery. Both phones will be dual-SIM compatible, as seems to appeal to the Indian audience, will support 3G , FM Radio, Bluetooth and WiFi compatibility.
The phones have surfaced on Indian online retailer Snapdeal’s website. The Lava Iris 505 is priced at INR 8,999 and the 506Q at INR 11,700. The competition is heating up between Lava and Micromax to become the prime Indian smartphone manufacturer, and both are pushing many devices,targeted at various market segments, hoping to gain more market share.
