Micromax is releasing devices at a rapid, yet steady pace. With brilliant releases like the Canvas HD, Canvas 4, the Canvas Doodle 2, and the alleged Canvas 5, all in the past few months, they are keeping true to the motto ‘More devices, more sales, and more market share’. Indeed, they are now the Number-2 smartphone maker in India, behind only Samsung. Moreover, tablet and phablet sales are increasing in India as the idea of one of these as a laptop/PC replacement is gaining steam.
Micromax is all set to retake the ultra-low budget tablet market with its newest 7-inch tablet, the Micromax Funbook P255, which we recently spotted online for INR 4,499. The device will come with a 7-inch 800×480 px resolution capacitive-touchscreen display. It will be powered by an ARM Cortex A8 processor, clocked in at 1.2 GHz, with 512 MB of RAM. It comes with 4 GB of internal storage, of which 1.15 GB are available to the user, and is expabndable to 32 GB via microSD card.
On the camera front, the device clicks away with a 2 MP rear shooter, and a 0.3 MP front-facing camera. It will come with Android 4.0.4 ice Cream Sandwich, and will hold a 2600 mAh battery, which can allegedly give 150 hours of standby, and 4 hours of internet browsing time. The tablet does not offer Bluetooth / Radio support, but can use for WiFi, 3G via-dongle, and micro-USB.
The Micromax Funbook P255 is in stock, and can be seen online at Snapdeal for INR 4,499, though we were greeted with an ‘Oops You are Late’. It was also spotted and ready-to-ship with online retailers Infibeam and Flipkart‘s website. Micromax is targeting all market segments, and shooting enough devices in the air to attract all nature of buyers.
