Android casual gamers are now treated to a holiday season filled with sequels. After the recent launch of Angry Birds Star Wars II, people around the world could destroy evil pigs, Jedi Style. Now, PopCap Games, an Electronic Arts subsidiary, have begun rolling out Plants vs. Zombies 2, the sequel to their popular tower defense game. The game has already hit Android devices in Australia and New Zealand, and is likely to reach Android fans around the globe soon, according to the company.
Plants vs Zombies 2 is a tower-defense game set with a paradigm very similar to its predecessor, using flowers & vegetables to defend your backyard against a never-ending horde of Zombies. This version introduces a time-travel concept, where players are whisked off to Ancient Egypt, the high seas, the past and the future to do battle against all nature of Zombies, including brand-new Zombie chickens. PopCap games has also decided to release new levels, plants, zombies and more goodies on an ongoing basis.
Plants vs. Zombies 2 saw an iOS launch in August, and with over 25 million downloads, was a massive hit. PopCap games seems to be going the extra mile to ensure a smooth Android release, with a limited rollout in Australia and New Zealand, and a China launch last month to iron out all the little bugs. The game will be free to download upon launch. It is heartening to see all the most popular iOS games coming to Android, and we hope that the time-gap between the 2 reduces in the future.
