Retina MacBookPro 13 Rumor Roundup!
October 23rd is just around the corner, and here we are with the hottest topic right now. The launch of the Retina MacBook Pro 13-inch (acronym rMBP 13), along with an iPad mini, a refreshed iPad, Mac mini and iMac. It is going to be a big event, if the rumours are to be believed.
The need
We all know that Apple has introduced the rMBP 15 (yeah, the Retina MacBook Pro 15”) last year, which is going to be the design for the next-gen MacBook Pros. It was highly appreciated for its design and performance, but portability was still an issue for many. Since then there were rumours of a smaller version of the next gen MacBook Pro, the rMBP 13. Recently there have been numerous reports from various sources, stating that rMBP 13 is going to be unveiled at Apple’s event on October 23rd.
The tweaks
It is touted to have a refreshed layout, similar to the new rMBP 15. The refreshed battery layout is as shown in the image.
Now, we have further information that the laptop will definitely have 2 Thunderbolt Ports, 2 USB Ports and a HDMI Port. Judging by the positioning, it is following its bigger bro, and is cleaner than the present MacBook Pro. Not only are there changes in layout but also the display. If we are to go by the rumors, then it is sure to have a 2560×1600 resolution LCD display, which justifies the Retina tag.
But, it is also said to run on Intel HD Graphics instead of a dedicated chip! I am sure that they are good, but even the slightest of the games would be difficult to run on. Considering the audience it is supposed to cater, this is an expected call and won’t do much harm. We will have to wait for the event to start to check if it really has the same specs.
The pricing
Coming to the speculated pricing, it is supposed to be $500 costlier than regular 13-inch MacBook Pro, which seems a tad too much, given the fact that 15″ version of rMBP is only $400 more than the base model. Albeit one can have a base 15″ non-Retina MBP at the same price, which has much better processing power. It is not a win-win situation for Apple, but it sure started an era of Retina laptops, within a thin frame. Or lets call it Ultra-Ultrabooks.
