Just 8 months after its release, Xolo Q1000 sees its successor, the Xolo Q1010, as per listings on Flipkart. The budget smartphone market is exploding with a variety of devices from different brands, but the question is more about which device bring something new and innovative at a good price.
To start with, the Xolo Q1010 will feature the same 5 inch HD IPS display which was used in the Xolo Q1000. The 1.2 GHz Mediatek MT6589 Quad-core processor is now upgraded to a marginally faster 1.3 GHz quad-core MediaTek MT6582 processor. One of the other noticeable changes was a 2 MP front facing camera over the 1.2 MP secondary camera in the Xolo Q1000. However, it retains the same 8 MP primary rear-facing camera. The device will run Android v4.2 JellyBean out of the box, a bit outdated at this point of time. This time, the design of the phone is more on the line of the Xolo Q2000, transitioning from a curved to a squarish device profile. It also has dual SIM card support which is one of the most looked around feature in smartphones these days, at least in India and other developing markets. The Xolo Q1010 also packs 1 GB of RAM, 4 GB of internal storage and a provision for microSD card. Also, the device is powered by a 2250 mAh battery which holds slightly more juice than the 2100 mAh battery which was used in the Xolo Q1000.

The specifications speak for themselves, the device is not a major upgrade over the Xolo Q1000. An ideal price for this device should be around INR 10,000 to survive in this competitive market. However, the device is priced at a sturdy INR 12,648 on Flipkart but we expect a price drop soon as other options like Moto G will obviously win a buyer’s heart and mind due to better display quality, battery life and newer software.
