Churning out killer products and replacing it with another killer product is the mantra to be in the mobile handset business. Here, the race to be ahead of your competition is a never ending one. Recently, the news has come out that Micromax may be very close to announcing a 5.7-inch phablet in its Doodle series.
The device may come out by the end of this week. The device is believed to be a direct competition of Samsung’s Galaxy Mega 5.8 which offers similar features and price proximity. While the device has not been christened so far but it is believed that Micromax will choose to call it -Micromax Doodle 2 or it might just christen it as Canvas 5. The company has just released the Canvas 4 so we think it will be Doodle 2. To put things in perspective, it will be helpful to have a comparative look at the features of both the devices.
Here are the key specifications of Micromax doodle 2-
- 5.7 inch screen of 720p resolution
- 12-megapixel rear camera and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera
- MediaTek MT6589 chipset, four Cortex A7 cores with a frequency of 1.2GHz each
- 1GB of RAM and 16GB of internal memory a microSD card slot for expansion
- 2,600mAh battery
On the operating system front, the device runs on Google’s Android 4.2 along with Micromax’s own customizations. These customizations may not be much different from the ones present in the Canvas 4 including the vertical panorama mode, the new video player and could even include the tacky blow-to-unlock mode.
The device will be a tough contender on price as well as specification frontier. While Samsung’s Galaxy Mega 5.8 is available for Rs 23,000, Micromax doodle 2 is expected to be launched with a price tag of Rs 18,000. On the specifications front, The Galaxy Mega 5.8 comes with a qHD display, a dual-core processor and a combination of an 8-megapixel rear and 1.9-megapixel front-facing cameras.
Hence, the first sight comparison puts Micromax Doodle 2 in a better placed position. The only drawback looks a larger footprint and metallic back casing which makes the phone heavy and not-so-comfortable.Lets hope that the device has enough positives to cover this minor flaw.
