Samsung planning to launch Galaxy Camera in India before Diwali
Samsung had announced the Galaxy Camera at IFA 2012 in Berlin a few weeks ago. They hadn’t given out a release date as of yet, but they have announced that the Galaxy Camera would launch in India by Diwali, which is on 13th November this year.
The Samsung Galaxy Camera is an Android powered 16MP camera. Its features include Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean), Quad core 1.4 GHz Cortex-A9 Processor, 1 GB RAM, 16 MP Primary Camera, 4.8-Inch Super Clear LCD capacitive touchscreen, NFC, HDMI port, TV-out (via MHL A/V link), DLNA, Micro USB 2.0. Connectivity options include 2G/3G, Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi hotspot, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, A-GPS and GLONASS support. The flash included is a pop-up Xenon flash and the camera supports HD video recording at 1080p and 720×480@120fps for slow-mo.
Other camera features include Auto-focus, 21x Optical zoom, Wide-angle 23mm lens, Geo-tagging, Touch focus, Face and Smile detection, Optical image stabilization and AF light. The internal memory is 8GB and is expandable up to 32GB with a microSD card. Access to Google Play Store lets you install apps and games like you would on a smartphone.
It also allows for music and video playback with support for various formats such as MP3, eAAC+, AC3, FLAC, WAV, MP4, H.263, H.264, WMV, Divx, XviD. The battery is a Li-Ion 1650mAh and the camera weighs in at 305g.
Samsung hasn’t let out pricing details, but expect to hear from them soon about this. Samsung is one of first manufacturers to release an Android powered camera along with Nikon, it remains to be seen how this plays out in the point-and-shoot camera market.
