The rumours surrounding Sony’s Xperia Z and Xperia ZL launch at CES have been officially confirmed by Sony with official pictures. The smartphones will be targeted towards the Samsung Galaxy Note series and the other flagships at 5-inches, and will include a display with 1080p resolution which provides an amazing pixel density on screen. The Sony Xperia Z is named as ‘Yuga’ and the Sony Xperia ZL as ‘Odin’.

Rumors have been floating about for a long time that a Sony phone meant to compete with the likes of LG Nexus 4 or HTC Droid DNA is in the making, both of which launched just recently. The rumoured specs for the smartphone codenamed as the Xperia Z L36H include a 13-megapixel backside-illuminated camera, Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 quad-core processor with Adreno 320 GPU, 2GB of RAM, and a microSD slot. Sony is yet to confirm these specifications, but we will surely get to know them when the phones are unveiled at CES in a few days.

More interesting turn-around is the news suggesting that these phones will be launched just a week after they’ve been unveiled. That makes for an interesting marketing strategy as consumers will be delighted to buy before their excitement withers down.
