The Smartphone Move

Is Facebook coming up with a smartphone of its own? How different will it be? Let’s guess.

Facebook, which didn’t begin as a standard business has now turned into a billion dollar corporation and is constantly expanding its avenues. It seems like Mark Zuckerberg doesn’t want to limit the company to social networking but keeping it at its core indulge into other scenarios. This particular point is evident by the recent acquisition of Instagram with Facebook now embarking upon the world of mobile photo sharing. News has been regarding Facebook to have its own browser and about obtaining Opera. So Facebook is now kind of breaking out.

what say??

The Facebook Smartphone

Now what if I were to tell you that Facebook is building a smart phone? I can almost imagine you people swooning over the idea. Well its true Facebook is reportedly building a smartphone with the help of ex-Apple engineers. The New York Times’ Nick Bilton reported that Facebook is hoping to release its own smartphone by next year. Bilton’s sources reported that Facebook has hired engineers who worked on the iPhone and the iPad.

Now this is not the first time we are hearing about Facebook’s smartphone. In November it was reported that Facebook was in talks with HTC about building a smart phone that place social networking at its epitome under an effort that was code named ‘Buffy’. A notable point is that at the Mobile World Congress HTC introduced two phones that had Facebook buttons HTC status and HTC Salsa. NOW Facebook didn’t deny Bilton’s statement instead it came with a well-developed diplomatic statement that

“We’re working across the entire mobile industry; with operators, hardware manufacturers, OS providers, and application developers.”

Now Time will tell whether a Facebook smartphone floods that market or not but let’s simulate the features a Facebook smartphone would be expected to have.

A Facebook Button - The instant login feature through a single push button. After all it’s all about exclusivity.

Facebook App store - Like The android app store, or the iPhone apps Facebook should include its own exclusive apps and games.

Instant Sharing - The moment you click a photograph or record a video, there should be a direct upload to Facebook provision.

An Instagram Button - Instagram is a part of Facebook now, so we can’t leave it out.

Blue Colour - Most Probably.

A direct Poke feature - Without logging in, you can poke a contact.

A Browser - Well, Facebook is working on it I guess.

Places - Places to be updated on the location of the phone and also where friends are.

The Last Word

Time will tell about the smartphone but one thing is for certain that there will be a lot of expectations with this project. Facebook is almost a cult and there are strong practitioners who wouldn’t like to be disappointed. Facebook has aced the internet world and statistically speaking this project should also result in success and laurels.
