Zopo to launch a 5.7-inch phablet with quad-core Tegra 3 Nvidia chipset

zopo-logo Zopo has confirmed that it will be launching a 5.7-inch ‘Phablet’ in the month of May. The phablet will be powered by a quad-core Tegra 3 Chipset and will sport a ’32′MP primary camera and a 5MP secondary camera! Yes, you heard that right, a 32MP camera.  Zopo has recently launched 3 phablets in India:  Zopo ZP950+, Zopo ZP910 and Zopo ZP910.

The Tegra 3 processor is not the fastest one out there compared to Samsung’s Exynos or Qualcomm’s Snapdragon, but it’s still an improvement over the generic MediaTek processors that seem to be the craze in the budget smartphone segment. Apart from Nokia’s 41MP wonder, the Nokia 808, no smartphone has tried to rack up the megapixels as much as Zopo is trying out here. Nokia 808 runs on the proprietary PureView technology to over-sample the 41MP images to bring crisp 5MP or 8MP images, apart from letting the users to zoom digitally without any loss to the image quality. It remains to be seen whether Zopo employs any such software tricks to let users do the same.

Any other features of this phablet are as of yet unknown, likewise the exact date of release and price are yet to be confirmed. Looking at the specifications of the other three previous phablets, this new phablet would probably run on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean OS.

The Zopo ZP950+ features a 5.7-inch display with 1280 x 720 pixels resolution, the Zopo ZP910 features a 5.3-inch display with 960 x 540 pixels resolution and the Zopo ZP810 soprts a 5-inch display with 1280 x 720 pixels resolution. All these phablets come with 1GB of RAM and are bundled with 4GB of in-built memory, with a microSD slot which supports upto 32GB of expandable memory.

We’ll keep you updated as and when news regarding the “Tegra 3-32MP” phablet develops.

Update: The processor will be a 1.6 GHz quad-core processor. It is said to have 3D gaming stereo too.
