How To Find The Best Deal On A Laptop
If you are shopping for a laptop, you’ve probably heard that the best laptop deals can be found just before or just after the back to school sales or toward the end of the holiday shopping season. But more often than not, purchasing a new laptop is a product of necessity that needs to be done immediately. If your old laptop crashes or the technology is simply too outdated to perform well, you can’t afford to wait around for the next round or discounts. That being said, you don’t have to pay full price for a new laptop either. Here are three tips to help you find the best laptop deals any time of year.
Make A List
First, make a list of the features that are most important to you and stick to that list. It can be entirely too easy to get caught up in how amazing the latest technologies are and/or be persuaded by a skilled sales person. This will prevent you from paying more for features that you don’t need and will never use. For instance, a laptop with a backlit keyboard looks very cool, and is probably a necessity for a frequent flyer who often works on night flights; it probably isn’t necessary for the average person, however. It’s not a deal if you pay for more features than you will use.
Making a list of the features that are most important to you will also help you determine the best place to purchase a new laptop. If your needs are very basic, you can probably find a computer on sale most anywhere to meet your needs. If your search criteria are more specific, you may be better off purchasing a laptop from a manufacturer or retailer that will custom build a machine to fit your specifications rather than purchasing a standard model and paying for after market upgrades.
Haggle: Price Compare and Negotiate
Once you have narrowed your search down to a few specific models, take the time to do a quick search on the internet to check for the lowest prices. Build a short list from several competitors and then use the online chat service that many retailers use to communicate with a sales person via chat. Once you get a specific quote let the other retailer know and see if they cannot give you a better offer. Many retailers are willing to price match because the want to lock you down as their customer. You can also often get better offers on PCs that are a model year old. The components are often very similar but the price will be cut because it is not the latest and greatest.
Ask the sales person if they know of any promo codes, and do a search yourself. Many retailers or manufacturers often have to many units in stock and getting a good deal is easier than you might think. Insist on free shipping! It does not mean you will always get it but be sure to factor it into your price comparisons.
Hit Up A Local Retailer
Brick and mortar shops are getting better and better at finding pricing that works. Because they carry physical inventory on stock you can often get really great deals on models that are not selling as quickly as anticipated. It is especially a great time to hit up retailers just after new models are released. They would like to clear out old inventory and make room for the new models. Leaving a window of opportunity for you to swoop in and snag a great deal. Sometimes the best laptop deals include more than just a laptop. If you know you will need additional accessories to make the best use of your laptop, you may be able to save by purchasing a bundle. A bundle package often includes items such as a wireless mouse, a printer and other accessories.
Remember to do your home work when looking for a great deal when looking for the best laptop. Even if you get in a bind focus spend some time researching good options and you will be much more likely to get a great deal. If you are looking for great laptop deals you can visit here.
