Xolo has announced its new Xolo tablet Win at CES. This tablet is powered by an AMD A4 ‘Jaguar’ APU with CPU cores similar to the ones used in the Sony PlayStation 4 and Microsoft Xbox One. The Xolo Win runs on Windows 8 operating system.
Coming to technical specifications, the Xolo Win has a 10.1″ capacitive touchscreen (10-point multitouch) with a slightly lower resolution of 1366 x 768 pixels bringing its pixel density to 155 ppi which is nowhere compared to the 264 ppi of iPad Air or Samsung Galaxy Tab Pro 10.1. This may be disappointing for users habituated to ‘Retina’ displays. It is powered by a dual-core AMD A4 1200 SoC processor clocked at 1GHz along with AMD Radeon HD 8180G GPU, 2GB of DDDR3 RAM and 32GB of built-in storage. On the connectivity front, it has Wi-Fi b/g/n and Bluetooth v4.0. This tablet is also equipped with a 2MP rear camera, 1MP front-facing camera and stereo speakers (1.5 watts each).
The battery life is one of the most important aspect as Xolo is aiming on youths and working professionals. Xolo has managed to fit a 26.27 WHr battery which is not great when compared to existing tablets like Apple iPad which has a 32.4WHr battery. But Xolo still claims up to 7 hours of battery life on a single charge. There is no word from Xolo about its pricing but they’ve confirmed that it will be available in Indian retail stores by the end of January 2014.
It is interesting to see that Xolo is working hard on collaborating with as many chip manufacturers and brands as possible. Till now, they’ve collaborated with AMD, Intel, Qualcomm, Nvidia, MediaTek and Broadcom. Xolo is the only Indian smartphone brand that looks keen to make a mark with actual product quality. They’ve recently collaborated with Liverpool Football Club to become their official handset partner in India.
