Facebook’s treat to the bloggers – Blogging going more Social

Tuesday morning brought a smile on every wordpress blogger’s face when the Social networking giant Facebook launched a integration with the blogging king WordPress.

Facebook finally launched an official plugin named Facebook For WordPress enabling wordpress bloggers and admins of wordpress based sites , to cross-post their blogs on their Facebook Timeline as well as on their friend’s Timeline.

WordPress  today is the world’s  most popular choice when it comes to publishing and management of content on the web. It has an impressive 16.6 % of the total publishing sites powered in its name. As a matter of fact  49 percent of the top 100 blogs in the world are published through WordPress . Now talking of Facebook , its needless to mention it’s the world’s largest when it comes to the number of users. Adding over 700 million usernames to its database , the collaboration between the two is something which in a real sense going to have a “global” effect.

This is not the first attempt to bring in a tool to encapsulate Facebook and WordPress . Pulling in the stats – out of the 19,812 plugins currently available for WordPress, over thousand of them support some kind of a connection with the Facebook. However this is the first time that something “official ” has come up, that too being from the side of facebook makes it enough to create a buzz in the tech world.

“Once the plugin is installed, you can cross-post content published to WordPress to your Facebook Timeline and the Facebook Pages you manage,” Facebook engineer Matt Kelly wrote in a blog post today. “You can also mention the names of Pages and friends as you post to further distribute your content.”  He further added ,“The plugin was built by Facebook engineers in collaboration with open source partners, and makes it simple for anyone to make their WordPress site more social – no coding required.”

Facebook also provided a bunch of added plugins which are now available as WordPress widgets .

  • The first being the ‘Activity Feed’ enabling the readers to keep an eye on their friend’s activities on your WordPress powered website.
  • Next up is the ‘Recommendation’ plugin which provides some personalized suggestion over the latest contents on the site and also keeps a track of your previous readings on your timeline.
  • Another one in the name of ‘Customizable Like, Subscribe and Send buttons ’ has been included in the list.
  • And last but no way the least is a ‘comment box’ to capture the reader’s response.

Because the users of both the sites wanted this feature from a long time , finally the official plugin being launched its likely to take their user satisfaction a step ahead . The Facebook For WordPress plugin  is simple , precise does most of what the users could have possibly wanted. With blogging going more social this symbiotic joint of Facebook  and WordPress  is surely going to inspire many other collaborations in the goodwill of the internet  users.   Take a look at its preview .
